The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official charged with coordinating Faith-based and voluntary organizations with the federal government in response to presidentially-declared disasters will visit Pierre next week to talk about that mission. Rev. David L. Myers, Director of the DHS, Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships will hold a meeting at the Chamber of Commerce Community Room. Rev. Myers will speak on the Center's mission to build resilient communities among Faith-based and Community Organizations. He would like to meet the people that make this happen and take something back to Washington to further coordinate programs, contracting opportunities and agency initiatives. This will be the first time Rev. Myers has visited South Dakota. State and local officials, emergency managers, representatives of VOAD organizations, and any community/charitable organizations are encouraged to attend. This meeting is open to the public.
