Celebrating Ability with Geri Jewell
Congress designates each October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month. This presentation promotes the benefits of a diverse workforce that includes workers with disabilities, who represent a highly skilled talent pool.
Geri Jewell is not only an exceptional actress and comedienne, she is internationally recognized as a powerful and motivational speaker and trainer. She is famous for her uncanny ability to captivate the hearts of audiences by using humor to facilitate attitude changes. Geri brings to her presentations personal experience of having her behavior and actions misunderstood because of her cerebral palsy. By sharing her disability as her greatest blessing, and revealing insights about the world as she sees it, Geri turns the focus from disabilities to a true celebration of ability, resulting in an inspiring, empowering and healing experience.

Geri is best known as Cousin Geri on the NBC sitcom, The Facts of Life. She was the first person with a disability to have a regular role on a prime time series. She began her career doing stand up comedy at the Comedy Store in 1978. After her ground breaking role on The Facts of Life she has appeared on such shows as The Great Space Coaster,Night of the White Pant, the Emmy award winning movie Two of a Kind, Sesame Street, 21 Jump Street, Young and the Restless, Strong Medicine, the HBO hit series Deadwood,and in the newFOX seriesAlcatraz.
Geri's Autobiography is inspirational in how she rose from the brink of despair to the landing of her role in HBO's hit series "Deadwood."
