Coaches VS Cancer

Coaches vs. Cancer is a program founded by the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball coaches that empowers coaches, their teams and communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer by participating in a variety of national and local events.  Since it's inception in 1993 Coaches vs. Cancer has raised more than $60 million to support the American Cancer Society's work to save lives from cancer.
 
Coaches vs. Cancer does not just have to be a basketball event; it can be any sport anywhere. 100% of the funds raised will support our local American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, funding the lifesaving mission of the American Cancer Society.
 
At each of our events we will be selling WALL OF HOPE cards which are cards you purchase at $1.00 a piece and put the name of someone you want to honor on it or even your name as a supporter.
 
At each event we will do a bucket run which will happen during halftime. The scoreboard clock will show 112 seconds to represent the 12 people diagnosed with cancer every day in South Dakota. When the clock starts, volunteers will spread through the stands with buckets and try and get as many donations as possible.

Here is a list of our events:
 
January 6th Hockey at the Expo Center in Fort Pierre - they will be auctioning off Pink Jersey's, selling Wall of Hope cards, and doing the bucket run.  Varsity game starts at 4:15 - Marcie Long is the coordinator for this event.
 
Subsequent events will be girls basketball Jan. 15 in Pierre, boys basketball Jan. 22 in Pierre, the Big Dakota Conference wrestling tournament in Fort Pierre Feb. 2, and a girls-boys basketball doubleheader in Fort Pierre Feb. 7.
Wall of Hope cards and t-shirts will be sold along with a bucket run at halftime.
