
Fishing Tournament to Benefit the Flood Victims
Please join Bishop Robert Gruss for a day of fishing and fun on Friday, September 30th. A fishing tournament on Lakes Oahe and Sharpe will benefit the flood victims in our area. Prizes will be awarded for total weight for walleye and largest Northern Pike based on weight (5 walleyes - 3 under and 2 over). The fee is $150 per team and teams can be 2, 3 or 4-person teams. You can fish off your boat or from shore. A t-shirt, sandbag and fish fry dinner are included in the fee.
Tournament Schedule
Thursday, September 29th
8:00 p.m. CDT in Padre Hall at St. John the Evangelist Church in Fort Pierre starts the Calcutta with the auctioning off of teams and the auctioning of Bishop Gruss to fish on a team.
Friday, September 30th
7:00 a.m. CDT meet at the parking lot at the Expo Center in Fort Pierre to go over the rules and the schedule of the day.
7:30 a.m. CDT tournament begins
3-4:00 p.m. CDT weigh-in at Expo Center Parking lot in Fort Pierre and cleaning of fish at Ramkota in Pierre at fish cleaning station.
5:30 p.m. CDT Mass with Bishop Gruss
6:00 p.m. CDT Fish Fry dinner with Silent Auction

The purpose of the fishing tournament is really twofold. First, it is to raise funds to help meet some of the immediate and unmet needs of those who have been displaced in the flood in Fort Pierre and Pierre communities since the end of May. Secondly, it is to have some fun after a long summer of flooding and people being displaced from their homes.
