Hometown Heroes
Nominate your favorite Hometown Hero The Capital Journal is seeking nominees for the annual Hometown Heroes award. It’s a way for those who do so much for our community to be recognized and thanked, said Capital Journal Publisher John Clark. Readers are asked to go to the Capital Journal website at www.capjournal.com to fill out a nomination form telling us in 200 words or less why that person should be nominated. A print nomination can be found in the Capital Journal. The nominee should be someone who lives in the local area who, through contributions of time and or money in 2018 has had a positive impact on the people and quality of life in our hometowns. Nominations from the printed form in the Capital Journal or online on capjournal.com must be returned to the Capital Journal by March 22nd. Winners will be published in a special section of the Capital Journal and invited to a reward reception with family and friends in early April. Last year’s winners included Mansour Karim, Jenny Wegner, Mayor Gloria Hanson, Oahe, Inc. staff, Mary Gates, Bob Jeffries, Chad Uhrig, Christina Oey, Haley Dorschner, Jeremy Buchholz, Susie Oligmueller. Sponsors of this year’s Hometown Heroes awards include AARP South Dakota, Fischer Rounds Real Estate, Rural Health Care, Gator’s Pizza and A.G.E. Construction.
