Leading to Win with Coach Don Meyer 2013

The Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Northern State University, is proud to present "Leading to Win" with legendary basketball coach and motivational speaker Don Meyer.

With 923 wins over 38 years, Meyer is one of the most successful coaches in NCAA basketball. He inspires others with his knowledge and experience both on and off the court.

Meyer's career is filled with ups and downs. During surgery for injuries sustained in a near fatal car accident in 2008, doctors discovered cancer. Despite losing much of his left leg from the accident and the diagnosis of inoperable cancer, Meyer refused to give up on the sport he loves. He returned to the court and lead the NSU Wolves to the team's second straight appearance in the NCAA Division II National Tournament. He retired in 2010.

Meyer was awarded the Jimmy V Award for Perserverance at the 2009 ESPY Awards, and presented the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's John Bunn Award in 2010. He is the subject of the biography "How Lucky Can You Get" by ESPN's Buster Olney.
