Missouri River Powwow (MNI-SOSE WAKPA WACIPI)
The Missouri River Powwow will take place at the Fort Pierre, SD Wacipi Grounds beginning Friday, July 13 through Sunday, July 15, 2012. The event is open to the public. Following are the categories of competition:
- Golden Age Men's and Womens (age 50+)
- Men's Traditional, Grass, Fancy (18-49)
- Women's Traditional, Jingle, Fancy (18-49)
- Teen boys and girls Traditional, Fancy, Grass/Jingle (13-17)
- Junior Boys & Girls Traditional, Fancy, Grass/Jingle ((6-12)
Specials:
- All weekend Best Drum Winner-Take All in memory of Leslie W. Mahto, sponsored by the family.
- Men's Grass Special, sponsored by family & Mr. Florentine Blue Thunder
- Men's Traditional Special sponsored by JR LaPlante & family.
MC will be Jerry Dearly of St. Paul, Minnesota
Bring your own chairs. Water and camping are available.

Point system begins Friday night.
