One Book South Dakota Author Talk

2022 One Book South Dakota Author Nick Estes will discuss his work, answer questions and sign books. Estes is the author of "Our History is the Future." In 2016, a protest encampment at the Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota, established to block construction of the Dakota Access oil pipeline, grew to be the largest Indigenous protest encampment in the 21st century. In "Our History is the Future," Estes addresses issues of regional relevance and puts them in the context of centuries of Indigenous resistance to injustice. One Book South Dakota is a program of the South Dakota Humanities Council to encourage South Dakotans to read and discuss the same title. Estes' talk in Pierre is coordinated by Rawlins Municipal Library.
