Patriot Flag Ceremony
Pierre will host a 38' by 58' American flag known as the Patriot Flag on the Capitol grounds. The Patriot Flag is traveling to all 50 states to remember those killed in the 9/11 attacks on America. Pierre will be the final city to host a flag-raising event before it goes back to New York, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania for anniversary ceremonies on September 11, 2011.
The Patriot Flag was donated to the World Memorial Foundation by American Legion J.B. Clark Post #149 of Escondido, CA. The Foundation and volunteers with the civilian, fire, medical, military, and law enforcement sectors from around the country are organizing flag-raising ceremonies in communities nationwide.
