Please join us as we celebrate the departure of our Sioux Horse Effigy Dance Stick on its journey as part of the exhibit "The Plains Indians: Artists of Earth and Sky."Comments from the exhibit's curator Gaylord Torrence, Fred and Virginia Merrill Senior Curator of American Indian Art at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and Jay D. Vogt, Director of the South Dakota State Historical Society take place at 2:00 P.M. There will be free museum admission and refreshments throughout the day. ?The Plains Indians: Artists of Earth and Sky? is a major exhibition that opens in April 2014 in Paris and then travels to Kansas City and New York City. The exhibit unites unite masterworks found in European and North American collections, from pre-contact to contemporary that showcase the beauty, power and spiritual resonance of Plains Indian art.
