Red Geranium Project

Help make Pierre and Fort Pierre beautiful with red geraniums. Once again the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce will sell the historically rich flower to the community.

Back in 1910, the Pierre Women's Club surveyed the Pierre area asking, "What's your favorite flower to plant?". The red geranium was the overwhelming winner, and was nicknamed the "Capitol Flower".

Starting on March 27th and running through Thursday, May 24th you will be able to purchase red geraniums for your garden or store front. Cost is $5.00 per planting (each planting will have 3-4 bulbs) and must be pre-paid by Thursday, May 24th. Pierre Area Beautification Committee members will deliver the flowers to your home or business on Saturday, May 26th between Noon and 3:00 p.m.
