Scouting for Food Drive by Local Boy Scouts
Starting October 21, 2012 local Scouts will be placing Scouting for Food bags on your door in an effort to collect non-perishable goods for our local food bank. Then on Saturday morning, October 27, 2012, Scouts will again be going around the community to pick up filled food bags. By donating items to the Scouting for Food drive, you are helping those in need right here in Fort Pierre/Pierre Last year, the Scouting for Food Drive collected over 75,000 pounds of food throughout the Sioux Council’s 61-county service area.
Scouting for Food is just one way the Boy Scouts of America works to support communities across the nation. Scouts are active in cleaning up parks and the Arboretum, gathering for the needy and even helping with disaster relief. Through the Scouting for Food drive, you can make a difference. So please set aside a few extra items to donate when the bag shows up at your door. If you will not be home on the day Scouts plan to pick up the bag, simply hang it on your front door or leave the filled bag in a visible location.
