The South Dakota State Historical Society's Annual History Conference is being held May 20 - 21, 2011 at the Ramkota Hotel & Conference Center in Pierre, SD. This year's conference theme is Being Dakota: Territorial Sesquicentennial 1861 -2011. The conference brings a greater awareness and appreciation of South Dakota's past. In conjunction with the Sesquicentennial of the Dakota Territory, we are bringing in experts on the history of our nation during the 1860's. This provides an opportunity to stimulate discussion and research on the topic and promote awareness of current historical research being done in the state and regionally.
