State Capitol Tour Guide Orientation
The Capitol Tour Office is looking for volunteers to provide guided tours of the State Capitol. It’s a fun way to show off our beautiful State Capitol, meet people from all over the United States and other countries, and share little known facts and stories about our historic building.
The basic Capitol tour takes approximately 25 minutes. No memorization is required; tour scripts and note cards are available. We will work around your schedule. Several guides travel during the winter months, and we always welcome them back in the spring! The State Capitol is an approved RSVP workstation.
If you are interested in learning more about becoming a Capitol Tour Guide or Assistant, an orientation will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. in the Capitol Lake Visitor’s Center. A guided tour of the Capitol will be given following the orientation by one of our veteran tour guides, so wear comfortable shoes. Please contact Patricia at 773-3688 or Patricia.Saukel@state.sd.us.
