Try Hockey for Free
The Oahe Hockey Association invites kids to experience hockey for free at a special event on Saturday, Nov. 7.
Boys and girls age 4-9 are invited to the ExpoCenter in Ft. Pierre from 10:30 to noon that day to experience hockey on the ice. The OHA will provide skates, helmets and sticks for the young skaters to try hockey in a fun and safe environment. Certified coaches and Capitals players will teach skating and sport basics to kids.
OHA volunteers will provide information about the youth hockey program to interested parents.
Kids who attend will also be entered in a drawing to ride the Zamboni to clean the ice during a Lady Capitals varsity exhibition game on Sunday, Nov. 8. Families can register in advance at TryHockeyForFree.com (see link above) or register at the door. The first 40 kids to register will receive a free jersey.
Kids should wear loose fitting pants, winter gloves or mittens, and a sweatshirt or jacket. A bicycle helmet can also be used.
